The JULIAN function is used to derive a long Julian date value from the given date, or the current date if no parameter is given. A long Julian date is in YYYYDDD format, where DDD is the number of days that have elapsed since the beginning of the calendar year.

Parameter Descriptions

The JULIAN function take optionally a date. if no date is given then the current date is implied

Example

Obtain the current date in Julian format and map the result to target field JUL_DATE. Assume that the current date is January 31st, 2000.

JUL_DATE = JULIAN ()

 

Returns the value 2000031
