Encrypting IMS online log datasets (OLDS) |
Scroll |
The IMS Log Capture supports both standard and encrypted OLDS. There are multiple procedures for encrypting the IMS OLDS as described in IBM's documentation. There are three critical requirements:
1.They must be extended format OLDS.
2.They must be preformatted. That can be accomplished using the sample FMTOLDS JCL provided in the distribution.
3.The Capture task must be stopped and restarted when a change is made to the OLDS. The Capture can tolerate an IMS cold start, but not a concurrent switch to a new OLDS. Capture runs external to IMS and does not know about the new OLDS after the switch.
Note, IBM provides explicit documentation of the process which may be found by searching for "IMS encrypting OLDS". One result may be found here, https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ims/15.1.0?topic=ims-encrypting-online-log-data-sets-olds
